While their 2022's Self-titled album left me with some songs that I love but ultimately failed to properly grip me, I absolutely loved Rain City Drive's "To Better Days" released in 2020. It's actually an important album for me in relation to the year I was going through when it released.

And now, Rain City Drive is back with "Things Are Better Now" and this one hits just right. I've been hooked by all of the singles, "Neverbloom" especially. "Medicate Me" with Dayseeker's and Hurtwave's lead singer Rory Rodriguez is simply amazing and what's great here, is that the rest of the album matches these two.

The opening track "Losing My Composure" sells the album to me, that's one of hell to make a good impression and the closing track "Sacrifice" is a fantastic to way to close the album. Just like their Self-titled album "If I Was Right", my favorite track of that album1, "Sacrifice" sends off the album on a very powerful and emotional note. This one much more powerful and raw than the melancholic send off from 2022, but just as effective.

It's not the most challenging, it's not the most complex, sure, but what it is is an amazingly catchy album that is super easy to listen to.

  1. It's Concrete Closure on this one, followed closely by Sacrifice. I'd also give a big mention to Neverbloom because the only reason why it doesn't do much for me now is because I've exhausted it from listening to it again and again.
